As a reader, if I had to be classified in a category, I would choose that I am a summer reader because my favorite kind of books are teenage love stories that take place at the beach. But since starting my new book, I would consider myself a reading addict because I now love reading a chapter or two before going to bed. Reading has helped me take time from the busy day and it calms me down from all the stress I face as a high school student. The book I chose to read was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling because I have put off actually reading the books for years, and since I am in love with the movies, I figured it was the perfect time to start the series. My first encounter with reading H.P. was great. Once I started, I just couldn’t stop myself and ended up reading three chapters that first night. Ever since I started the book, I haven’t been able to put it down and I am currently on the last chapter. Everyone always said that you aren’t a true Harry Potter fan until you read the books, and now I understand why they say this. They say this because of the impact the book can have on your reading identity. This book turned me from a summer reader into a reader that can’t put the book down. The best part about reading this book is that now I can go back, watch the movies, and have a better understanding of what is going on when everything gets a little hectic.
